Primary Responsibilities of Volunteer as Long Term Services and Supports Assistant (LTSS)

  • Maintain copies of LTSS documents in the individual forms drawer
    • Make more copies/print from laptop, remove/replace forms when there are updates
  • Create packets for assessors
    • Four types of packets (Nursing Facility Liaisons, Annual Assessors, Under 65 Initial Assessments, 65 and Over Initial Assessments) which are red, yellow, green, and blue respectively
    • Send packets through interoffice mail to other sites if/when needed
  • Assist staff with routine clerical tasks/project as needed (update brochures and bulletin boards, etc.)

Requirements:

  • Good listening and communication skills
  • The ideal applicant will be friendly and enjoy meeting people
  • Ability to evaluate situation to gather needed information
  • Good judgment and decision making skills in assessing various situations
  • Respect for confidentiality of customers
  • Developing constructive and cooperative working relationships with others, and maintaining them over time.

  • Respect for the multicultural nature of the customers including their dress, religious beliefs, and language
  • Must be 18 years or older and pass a standard background check

Time Commitment:

  • One or more 3-4 hour shift(s) per week on Tuesdays or Thursdays with a three or more month commitment

Supervision:

The volunteer is supported by the on-site staff members available to provide guidance and respond to questions and special situations. A Coordinator of Volunteers assists with volunteer service agreement, provides most training, and manages other volunteer program matters.

Description

The work of our Department tends to fall into three major areas:

  1. Increasing safety and stability of individuals and families through services such as child and adult protection, providing temporary emergency shelter, and more.
  2. Promoting self-reliance and a livable income through a mixture of federal and state programs, such as SNAP (food support), Child Support, Veterans' Service, cash assistance programs and more.
  3. Improving the health of the community through public health care programs, restaurant inspections, regulating emergency medical services, providing crisis response to behavioral health emergencies, immunization services, a public health clinic, and more.
