James Baldwin once said...
"Not everything that is faced can be changed, but nothing can be changed until it is faced."
I would like to take this time to first thank you for facing the disparages of our community by choosing to fight hunger as a volunteer with Target Hunger (A United Way agency)
Target Hunger is a community-based nonprofit, which depends upon the support and input of our community to successfully alleviate hunger and its root causes in the Houston neighborhood by providing more than 3.5 million pounds of food annually to families, children, sick, and seniors, thus, to those who need it the most.
The support of volunteers like you will highly be appreciated in an environment, where we are short-staffed and compounded with load of work with just few staff.
We hope that you will join us in making an impact on November 8, 2017 as we gather to serve at our St. Peter Claver location. We are looking for 20-25 volunteer to assist at our Food Fair. If interested in this exciting opportunity please respond to this email to receive a volunteer application.1 More opportunity with Target Hunger

Mission Statement
The mission of Target Hunger is to alleviate hunger and its root causes in the Houston neighborhoods we serve. Our vision is a Houston where no one goes hungry and everyone can provide food for themselves and their families.
Description
Target Hunger serves thousands of vulnerable households whose residents suffer from food insecurity each month. In 2021, Target Hunger distributed the equivalent of over 1.3 million meals to children, families, and seniors to help alleviate hunger in Houston’s impoverished northeast and east region.
This distribution of nutritious food is accomplished through multiple food pantries, educational food fairs, an extensive home delivery program, summer break food programs for children, mobile distribution sites, a growing community partner program, and emergency food assistance.
Target Hunger’s Willie H. & Gladys R. Goffney Community Garden located in Kashmere Gardens and our Green Mountain Energy Sun Club Shotwell Garden located at our main warehouse that welcomes volunteer groups and produces thousands of pounds of fresh produce.
Our volunteers provide an invaluable service to our clients and organization. With several opportunities available, from assisting in our warehouse to working in our community gardens, we consistently seek outstanding individuals to help us carry out our mission to the community. We welcome anyone who wants to volunteer, including individuals, social groups, religious organizations, students, and corporations.
