The gift of music can help ease the journey of those with life-limiting illness. If you play a portable instrument and are willing to share your time and talent with hospice patients and their families, please consider this wonderful opportunity. Music at the bedside calms and soothes patients and brings comfort to their families.
Who We Are
CovenantCare Hospice is part of the CovenantCare family of services that include home health care, private duty assistance, and comforting hospice care for patients and their families. As experts in every aspect of home care, we provide choices and unique plans of care for the people we serve - that is our difference.
Our care includes volunteers who embrace CovenantCare's 100-year tradition of Christian service and healthcare outreach. CovenantCare Hospice is affiliated with Covenant Village of Northbrook, Windsor Park in Carol Stream, and The Holmstad in Batavia. We also serve the surrounding communities.
What do volutneers do?
There are many ways our volunteers contribute to patient and family care in hospice; most importantly, they are friendly visitors who are trained to listen and to reflect with patients and their families.
Volunteers may also:
Run Errands
Assist with light housekeeping and/or meal preparation
Read, write letters, sing, watch tv, or care for pets
Assist with office tasks, special projects and events, or fundraising
Volunteers who are professionals may also provide comforting massages, haircuts, and manicures
What is the volunteer commitment?
Typically we ask for a one year commitment. We try to match requests for services with our volutneers' individual schedules, availabilities, interests, geographic area, and comfort level. As we strive to match your interests and needs with those of our patients and their families, there may be times when there are no appropriate opportunities for a particular volunteer. However, we will alsway strive to match your interests, wants, and needs with the unique needs of our patients and families.
What is the required training to become a volunteer?
Individuals interested in direct volunteer service with our patients must be 18 years or older. for those wishing to volumteer for indirect volunteer service the minimum age is 14. Volunteers must pass a drug test, background check and TB screening. Volunteers must have a valid driver's license and auto insurance.
