Do you have a passion for Science, Technology, Engineering and Math? Do you have experience with coding, robotics, Arduino, Raspberry Pi or another STEM skill that you would like to share with others?

The Mansfield Public Library is starting a weekly STEM program for teens and tweens over the summer. These classes will be geared towards helping kids become more familiar and comfortable with STEM concepts through hands-on, STEM focused activities, projects and demonstrations.

We are looking for volunteers interested in assisting the Youth Services Librarian in instructing one or more STEM programs over the summer. The STEM program will be every Wednesday at 2:00-3:00 pm from June 6th to July 25th with a break the week of July 4th. Duties include set-up at 1:00 pm, instruction assistance, and clean up ending by 3:30 pm. No teaching experience required, just a passion for STEM and the patience and ability to instruct a class of tweens/teens with varying skill levels.

The library provides all materials. We currently have Makey Makey's, Raspberry Pi's, Snap Circuits, and plenty of cardboard or recyclable material for building. Depending on your specialization, we are open to purchasing more equipment within reason.

If you cannot do a weekly commitment, but still have a STEM skill/interest that you would like to share at one of our programs, we are still interested in hearing from you.

The Mansfield Public Library wishes to continue the STEM program into the fall on a monthly basis. There will be more volunteer opportunities after the summer.
