Snoqualmie Point Park’s forest needs your help! Volunteers have already removed invasive weeds this summer and have planted native plants in their place this fall but the forest needs a nice layer of mulch to ensure the forest is set up for long-term success. Mulching will not only help build a healthy soil with nutrient-giving organic material, but will also suppress the growth of further weeds, and will keep moisture available for the newly planted plants. Help us ensure the plants we planted during Green Snoqualmie Day become established!

Gloves, tools, instruction, and snacks provided. Wear sturdy shoes and dress for the weather.

About Forterra

Mission Statement

Forterra's mission is to act with immediacy to protect, enhance and steward our region's most precious resources--its communities and its landscapes. Since 1989, we have been working toward a future in which our children and grandchildren can experience nature in and around our urban environments.

Description

Forterra conserves land by working with individuals, companies and local governments. We strive to maximize the ecological value of land, while meeting the needs of landowners. We may accept land as a donation, purchase it, or transfer it to public ownership. We often serve as a broker to identify and negotiate the most effective ownership to protect important lands. We establish conservation easements to preserve special features. For each and every property, we explore available strategies or create new ones to provide permanent protection. Forterra has established a Conservation Agenda for our region, with specific priorities and methods for each type of landscape. Current initiatives include the protection of working forests on the foothills of the Cascades, and the creation of salmon sanctuaries along our region's highest quality rivers and streams.
