About the Avery House
The Avery House is an essential piece of history in old town Fort Collins. It is a living history museum. The house is set -p to look like the Avery Family stepped out for a Sunday outing. It is maintained and managed by the Poudre Landmarks Foundation in partnership with the City of Fort Collins.
Volunteering as a Tour Guide
We ask that each docent commit to a minimum of one three-hour shift per month (from12 to 2 pm on a Saturday or 1 -4 pm on Sunday). Without the dedication and commitment of the Avery House docents, thousands of guests would not be able to enjoy and appreciate the legacy and treasures of the former home of Franklin and Sara Avery. Your involvement in this enthusiastic group of volunteers will help the Avery House remain accessible to our community and visitors.
School Tours
The Avery House welcomes many elementary students from Fort Collins and the surrounding areas for educational tours of the Avery House. We have retired teachers who volunteer as docents for these tours, and welcome retired educators to join us.
