Rain City Rock Camp is a place for girls and gender non-conforming individuals from ages 8-17 to learn an instrument, attend social justice and empowerment workshops, form a band, write a song, and perform at a concert showcase in one week! It takes about over 100 volunteers to make this summer camp work each year, and we are looking for all women and non-binary volunteers who want to empower our campers!

The Summer Camp runs Monday, July 15th through Saturday, July 27th (comprised of two week-long sessions). You do not need to be there all those days, just specify your availability in your application.

There are musical and non-musical roles in camp, here are some of the roles we are looking for:

  • Mentoring a youth band as a camp counselor
  • Providing musical support to a youth band as a coach
  • Teaching an instrument like drums or keyboards
  • Prepping meals on Food Crew
  • Resolving conflict as a mental health counselor
  • Directing campers at the front desk
  • Taking photos & videos of the action!
  • Selling raffle tickets at one of our shows

You can find more information about our camps and these roles in detail at: https://www.raincityrockcamp.org/how-you-can-help/summer-camp-volunteers

Mission Statement

Rain City Rock Camp empowers girls, women, and gender non-conforming individuals to engage their creative potential through music, champion equity, and thrive in a community of allies and activists.

Description

Rain City Rock Camp empowers female & non-binary individuals to engage their creative potential through music, champion equity, and thrive in a community of allies and activists. At our camps, we give people the opportunity to learn an instrument, join a band, write an original song, and perform that song on stage at one of Seattle’s popular venues. Equally important to the music aspect of our programs is our focus on building community and facilitating conversations around empowerment, body positivity, social justice, feminism, and other crucial topics. At RCRC, we envision an equitable world that celebrates creativity, embraces authenticity, and values all voices.
