ORGANIZATION: VALLEY OUTREACH

PROTEIN ENGINEER

What is a Protein Engineer you ask? A Protein Engineer keeps our Freezers well stocked with frozen proteins. Our clients get to select their own proteins to take home and cook for their family. YUM! And you will make that happen!

The Details:

Days: Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings

Times: 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

How many: 1-2 volunteers

Job Duties: Fill the freezers with proteins, keep the freezers stocked, help to stock and arrange the walk-in freezer (brrrr!!) - it’s like playing Tetris... with boxes... in a freezer, and assist clients with protein selections.

Supervised by: Caleb Mingus, our spectacular Program Coordinator Extraordinaire

Training: Ya sure, you betcha there will be training.

What do you need to bring? Smiles, strong muscles, willing and able to lift up to 50 pounds, willing to get dirty sometimes, willing to celebrate the glory that is food donations, willing to get a little cold once in a while!! Yay food!! Oh yeah, and wear closed-toe, comfy shoes. It’s for health and safety reasons and it’s a concrete floor. Always bring a coat and gloves to protect you while you work in the freezers.

What’s in it for you? The knowledge that you will help feed people who come to shop at the Food Shelf on Monday and Friday mornings. HUGE!!!! You will make it happen! You will make a difference in the lives of our clients each and every time you volunteer. You will receive acknowledgement from staff, volunteers and clients that you are a fabulous part of our team at Valley Outreach. Maybe make new friends and have fun while you work!

I’m in. Now what? Contact me, Suzanne Lindquist, Volunteer Manager at suzanne.lindquist@valleyoutreachmn.org or at 651-342-5559 and share that good news with me!

Let's make it better. Together!

Thank you!

About VALLEY OUTREACH

Mission Statement

Valley Outreach is a bridge between the crisis of the moment and the solution of the future. We help our St. Croix Valley neighbors in need of food, clothing, emergency financial assistance, and other support while respecting their individual dignity and offering them encouragement and hope.

Description

What started as the St. Croix Valley Emergency Food Shelf in 1983 has grown into the place our neighbors turn to during challenging times. Today Valley Outreach is the only non-profit in the valley that provides clients with a range of support - whether they need food, clothing, and personalized client services.

We’ve learned a lot in 35 years, but nothing more important than this: everybody needs help. And as long as there is need, Valley Outreach will be here - taking care of our community, and making us all a little healthier, stronger and more stable.

Valley Outreach is a community based, community-supported, privately funded non-profit organization serving our St. Croix Valley neighbors in need of food, clothing, and emergency financial assistance. Our Food Shelf provides food and other necessities. The Clothing Closet provides gently used clothing at no cost to men, women and children. Our Emergency Fund provides emergency financial assistance to help families in crisis.
