San Francisco - Teach Elementary Students at After School Program About Money and Business

Make a difference in the future of San Francisco elementary school students during after school hours by teaching them business and economic success and skills!
As a volunteer, you will:
- Receive ready-to-use materials provided by JA
- Teach up to five 45-minute lessons to a class of approximately 15 elementary school students
- Receive a 1 hour volunteer training
Anticipated program start date is November 13th. Preferred day of the week is Monday or Wednesday (could come twice a week and finish program early!). Class time is during after school hours 3:30-4:30 - one hour a week for 5 weeks.
JA More Than Money - students will:
- Session 1: The Money Garden - Students explore money-management skills and become familiar with the key differences between earning, saving, and spending
- Session 2: : Create a Business - Students learn about the ways in which people's interests and skills can help them identify small businesses they can start
- Session 3: Build a Business - Students identify the fundamental steps for starting a small business and develop a basic business plan
- Session 4: Run a Business - Students explain why financial institutions lend money and why people borrow money for their businesses
- Session 5: Global Success - Students explore the opportunities and challenges of global markets.

Junior Achievement of Northern California (JA) achieves this mission through teaching students about their expanding roles as individuals, consumers, employees, employers, and productive members of our society.
