We are seeking a technology professional to bring knowledge of business solutions, assess needs, and recommend business tools. The goal of this position is to help Second Harvest Heartland’s Volunteer Engagement Department minimize inefficiencies and maximize capacity as we engage over 28,000 volunteers a year. Support us in our mission to end hunger through community partnerships!
DUTIES:- Meet with individual team members and collective team to identify inefficiencies and technology gaps
- Summarize findings and prioritize technology needs
- Research and present potential business solutions
- Develop long and short-range technology plans
- Help inform business case for recommendations
- 2-4 years professional experience in technology solutions or related field
- Innovative and/or creative thinker
- Ability to take initiative
- Comfortable in consultative or leadership roles
- Ability to effectively communicate technical concepts
- Flexibility and willingness to adapt to change in the process
- Pass background check
- Total time requirement: Estimated 20-25 hours total
- Project Start date: Flexible
- Project completion date: 2-3 months from start date
- Days of the week: Flexible but occasional business-hour availability
- Time of the day: Flexible but occasional business-hour availability
- Work site: Some work will take place at Second Harvest Heartland, but a significant portion can be done from home, work, etc.

More than a food bank, Second Harvest Heartland is a leading partner in the policies and programs that work to end hunger, like SNAP, school meals and senior nutrition programs, and we’re an innovator in the areas where food can be the solution, like FOODRx and Minnesota Central Kitchen.
Second Harvest Heartland is a member of Feeding America, a national network of more than 200 food banks serving every state in the United States. Membership means access to millions of pounds of surplus food and grocery donations from manufacturers and producers throughout the country.
Working with our network of partners, volunteers and donors as well as people like you, our 90,000+ square feet of dry, refrigerator and freezer space is constantly accepting and distributing donations. Our fleet of trucks travels nearly half a million miles a year, picking up food donations and delivering them to local food shelves, soup kitchens, homeless shelters, senior community centers and children's after school programs.
