LLS

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) of Kentucky and Southern Indiana is looking for volunteers to help with two of our fundraising campaigns, Man and Woman of the Year and Students of the Year.

We are looking for volunteers to help with administrative support; data entry; grant writing/research; marketing strategy & planning; community outreach; fundraising and more! If you have ever wanted to get involved with LLS, now is a great time!

Man and Woman of the Year and Students of the Year are two of the fastest growing, exciting campaigns for LLS nationally! We need your help to achieve our fundraising goals for each campaign!

Man and Woman of the Year is a ten week philanthropic competition for community leaders. During the competition, these leaders raise money for the mission of LLS and in honor of our local Boy & Girl of the Year, young blood cancer survivors. Candidates build strong teams to help support their campaign and expand their reach. The title Man/Woman of the Year is awarded to the candidates whose team raises the most funds during the competition. Candidates benefit from this competition by partnering with a highly respected nonprofit organization and getting their name/company out into the community through print, online and social media. Locally, the campaign will run from March 7, 2018-May 19, 2018. We will have a candidate workshop, kickoff celebration, mid-point party and Grand Finale Gala during these ten weeks. This campaign allows community leaders to make a significant impact on the fight against blood cancer.

Students of the Year is a seven week philanthropic leadership development program during which high school students utilize professional skills such as entrepreneurship, marketing and project management in order to raise funds for the mission of LLS. The students raise money in honor of our honored hero, a young blood cancer survivor. The student/team of up to 3 students who raises the most funds during the competition is awarded a $2,500 scholarship and three other $500 scholarships will be awarded for mission and citizenship. The campaign locally will run from February 22, 2018-April 12, 2018. We will have a candidate workshop, kickoff and Grand Finale Gala during these seven weeks.

If you are interested in participating in either Campaign and/or volunteering with LLS to help support either or both Campaigns, please contact Ashley Voss at 502.719.0542 or ashley.voss@lls.org

Mission Statement

The mission of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) is: Cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families. We work tirelessly to find cures and ensure patients can access the lifesaving treatments they need. When someone experiences the fear and uncertainty of a blood cancer diagnosis, we provide hope, compassion, education and support. Our impact is felt beyond blood cancer. The breakthrough treatments we helped advance for blood cancers are now improving the lives of people affected by many types of cancer.

Description

Volunteers are our partners in the crusade to end cancer.

In 2017, LLS volunteers made a significant impact while selflessly dedicating their time and talent to achieve our mission. With countless ways to engage, from fundraising to providing patient support, our volunteers are changing the landscape of cancer.

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Kentucky & Southern Indiana Chapter serves residents who have been touched by one of the blood cancers: leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma.
