Who We Are
The Associate Board of Housing Opportunities for Women is a group of energetic young professionals from the Chicago area who are passionate about ending homelessness in our community. Associate Board members come from a wide variety of professions and backgrounds and use their unique strengths to promote HOW’s mission.
What We Do
The HOW Associate Board hosts a series of events throughout the year to spread the word about HOW’s transformative approach to ending homelessness. These events introduce HOW to new audiences while raising money to support HOW’s work. The Associate Board also provides opportunities for networking, socializing, and professional development for its members.
HOW Associate Board members:
Spread the word about HOW’s life-changing approach to ending homelessness and help us reach new audiences of potential supporters and clients.
Commit to a renewable one-year term as a board member.
Attend monthly board meetings.
Make a meaningful personal financial contribution to HOW.
Plan or assist with events throughout the year to raise awareness and funds to support HOW’s work.
Serve on committees or as executive board members (i.e. Treasurer, Secretary, Membership Committee, Events Committee).
Take advantage of opportunities for networking, socializing, and professional development offered for Associate Board members.

Housing Opportunities for Women (HOW) works to empower women, children and families to break the cycle of poverty and homelessness through housing and support services.
Description
Since 1983, HOW has been a leader in permanent solutions to homelessness. Through prevention strategies; expanded, affordable, supportive housing; and individualized support services we have helped thousands take back their lives. HOW operates under the Housing First Model, which ensures that homeless individuals are housed as quickly as possible, and then provided with tools for success and self-sufficiency.
