We currently need volunteers for our Youth Program events - volunteers would help set up and manage events with our staff. The events are Wednesdays at four different elementary schools in Lubbock. We alternate between the schools every other week (2 schools one week, 2 the next) doing one school in the morning and one in the afternoon each Wednesday.

We work with the Youth Engaged in Leadership and Learning (YELL) Curriculum. The curriculum is based on teaching leadership skills to kids 10-17, so we work on skills like active listening, team building, presentation skills, etc. An example of what volunteers would be helping with is interactive activities like the one we did about an earthquake. The kids participated in a script about an earthquake that just happened and then broke into groups to figure out the steps to do next.

At each school, the students are in groups ranging from 60 to almost 90 students, and we usually only have 3 staff members there. Any extra help managing the groups would help so much. Volunteers will be working on the activities with us, engaging with the students to teach the curriculum, and helping to keep the students participating and interacting.
