THE MEDICAL TEAM Hospice is seeking a Pet Therapist to assist with the enhancement of patient care. The presence of a pet can help reduce the effects of dementia-anxiety, agitiation, irritability, depression and loneliness. Pet therapy may provide physical activity, be a communication outlet, provide emotional support , give the person a sense of purpose and allow them enjoyment. Someone in the role would be sensitive to the emotional, spiritual and physical needs of the patients, family and caregivers, be consistent with agreed visits, need to have pet certification at all times, licensure must be maintained and yearly pet therapy license renewals which require up to date shot records.
