ORGANIZATION: Refugee Center & Community School at Reynolds Middle School

The Refugee Center and Community School within Reynolds Middle School runs an Extended Day Program, where students can stay after school and participate in tutoring and enrichment activities. Each Tuesday, refugee and immigrant students from Reynolds Middle School will ride a school bus to Lancaster Country Day School, where they will participate in programs specifically tailored to them as refugee and immigrant students who are english language learners. We are looking for one volunteer to travel to Lancaster Country Day every week to work with the lead volunteer and Country Day staff in ensuring student safety and in supervising student activities. Ideal volunteers enjoy working with children, have an interest in working with refugees or those from diverse backgrounds. Volunteer needed every Tuesday from 4:00-5:30pm.

Description

The Refugee Center & Community School at Reynolds Middle School is a full-service community school in the School District of Lancaster, run in partnership with Lancaster-Lebanon Intermediate Unit 13. We serve the whole child--mentally, emotionally, and socially. In service of this mission, RMS offers an Extended Day Program (EDP) at RMS throughout the school year, giving students a safe place to hang out after school, extra help with homework, and enrichment opportunities. RCCSR also offers parent workshops, refugee student support services, cultural navigation, and a uniform bank, all for students and their families.
