On 24 nights, the Detroit Zoo lights up the night with a dazzling display of 5 million holiday lights. Wild Lights volunteers are needed to help greet guests and direct them safely along the 1/2 mile walk. This is an outdoor opportunity with short breaks indoors.

Nov 30, Dec 1, 2, 7, 8, 9, 14, 15, 16, 20, 21, 22, 23, 26, 27, 28, 29, 30 and 31

Shift time: Fri/Sat - 5:30-8:30 or 7:00-10:15pm; Sun/weekdays - 5:30-8:30 or 6-9:15pm.

Volunteers must be at least 14 years old (with adult chaperone) and sign a waiver of liability form. A background check may be required for adults.

For every two shifts completed, you earn one free ticket to Wild Lights (limits apply).

A detailed description and waiver form will be emailed to you when you apply.

The Detroit Zoological Society does not participate in court-ordered community service.

Description

The Detroit Zoological Society is a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization that operates the Detroit Zoo and Belle Isle Nature Zoo. Situated on 125 acres of naturalistic exhibits, the Detroit Zoo is located at the intersection of 10 Mile Road and Woodward Avenue, just off I-696, in Royal Oak, Michigan.
