Did you know 1 in 5 low-income individuals in Los Angeles don't file a return and miss out on $375 million in tax credits? Families need your help.
The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) is an IRS program that helps low-income individuals file their return, claim their refunds, and connect them to great services at no cost.
With more volunteers, more families can access free assistance and claim every dollar they deserve.
Little Tokyo Service Center (LTSC) is hosting the VITA program virtually and in-person* at our downtown LA office from February to April. AND at our second site at the Angelina Apartments, close to the Echo Park neighborhood.
No previous experience required!! Learn about filing basic taxes and/or earn Continuing Education Credits. ALL VOLUNTEERS MUST COMPLETE IRS CERTIFICATION PROCESS PRIOR TO SERVING DURING SITE HOURS. NO EXCEPTIONS. Study materials and virtual training will be available to volunteers in mid-December 2020 and January 2021.
LTSC will continue to monitor, and adhere to all mandates and recommendations from public health officials regarding COVID-19. The safety of our volunteers and staff is of the utmost importance. *In-person volunteering will be limited until further notice.
If you are interested, please contact the LTSC VITA team by sending us an email at firstname.lastname@example.org or calling (213) 473-1637, ask for Kenia Sosa.
