Global Women's Leadership Network (GWLN) is focused on radically accelerating the leadership capacity of women around the globe. We are seeking a Volunteer Interim Executive Director who is a skilled not for profit leader, including fund raising, to help the Board and team build for the future.

With a presence in over 40 countries, GWLN is well known in the realm of women’s leadership and issues. The ideal candidate has the opportunity to step onto the world stage and expand GWLN’s global reach through widespread transformational leadership education.

Responsibilities and Major Duties
The Executive Director will report to the Board of Directors and will have overall strategic and operational responsibility for GWLN's leadership team, programs, expansion and execution of its mission through utilization of its values. He/She will develop deep knowledge of global women’s leadership issues and organizations, GWLN programs, operations, funding and business plans.

Board Governance
* Works with the Board in order to fulfill the organization mission
* Serves as ex-officio of each board committee and stimulates board involvement with
the strategic direction
* Other duties as assigned by the Board of Directors

Financial Performance and Viability
* Expands revenue generating and fundraising activities to support existing program
operations and expansion
* Oversees grant writing and other development efforts
* Develops resources, in concert with the Board to ensure the financial health of the
organization.
* Plans, prepares and operates annual budget that incorporates ongoing strategic
planning priorities
* Prepares monthly financial reports such as comparative year-to-date financial
statements and various other reports
* Prepares and reviews financial reports at Board of Directors meetings

Organization Mission and Strate
* Operates with a commitment to GWLN values -- inclusiveness, results-orientation,
accountability for outcomes, transparency, reciprocity, collaboration, partnership and
generating a feeling of abundance
* Ensures ongoing programmatic excellence, rigorous program evaluation, consistent
quality of finance and administration, fundraising, communications and systems;
recommends timelines and resources needed to achieve the strategic goals
* Ensures effective systems to track scaling progress, and regularly evaluate program
components

Organization Operations
* Recruits, leads, coaches, develops and retains GWLN’s high-performance team
* Oversees marketing and other communications efforts. Deepens and refines all
aspects of communications-from web presence to social media to external relations
with the goal of creating a strong brand
* Nurtures existing partnerships (Global Fund for Women, World Pulse, etc.) and begin to build partnerships in new markets, establishing relationships with funders, and political and community leaders
* Actively engages and energizes GWLN leadership team and board members, event committees, alumni, partnering organizations, regional alliances and funders
* Conducts regular leadership team meetings; Supervises and collaborates with all volunteer staff

Qualifications
All candidates should have proven leadership and relationship management experience. Concrete demonstrable experience and other qualifications include:

  1. Education
    Required:
    Advanced degree or equivalent Preferred: MBA or MPA
  2. Experience Required:
    * At least 5 years of senior management experience
    * Track record of effectively leading and regionally and/or nationally scaling a performance-
    and outcomes-based organization
    * Experience in executing excellent programs and refining them through periodic evaluation
    * Excellence in organizational management with the ability to recruit, coach, manage, and
    develop high-performance teams
    * Set and achieve strategic objectives
    * Past success working with a Board of Directors with the ability to cultivate existing board
    member relationships
    * Experience leading annual fundraising in the $250k to $500k dollar range
    * Strong marketing, public relations, and fundraising experience with the ability to engage a
    wide range of stakeholders and cultures
    * Strong written and verbal communication skills; a persuasive and passionate communicator with excellent interpersonal and multidisciplinary project skills
    * Ability to work effectively in collaboration with diverse groups of people and lead virtual teams
    * Knowledge of fundraising strategies and donor relations unique to the nonprofit sector
    * Actively use social media, including Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn

  3. Location
    Candidate must be in San Francisco Bay Area.

Compensation
This position is initially a volunteer position. As funds are obtained, it could become a paid position.
