You are invited to submit a workshop proposal and/or have an exhibitors table at the 25 th Annual Out in Space, Down to Earth STEM Educator Conference serving educators in grades Pre-K - 12. Share your best practices or resources for teachers in a 45 minute hands on workshop. Presenter benefits include free registration and lunch. Exhibitor space includes one 6’ table, two chairs and lunch.
The conference is STEM focused and targeted towards educators of all grade levels, bringing together hands on professional development workshops and local resources. Serving nearly 200 educators, this cutting edge and highly specialized conference is the best in the greater San Antonio and South Central Region. The goal of Out in Space, Down to Earth is to provide educators with the latest in STEM teaching strategies, collaboration opportunities, and research to expand their professional growth.
Our Keynote Speaker is astronomer, teacher and writer Dr. Jeffrey Bennett author of Max series. Dr. Bennett will speak on "The Race Between Education and Catastrophe" where he discusses why teaching is so important, and why so many of us focus our lives on promoting education. In this talk, Dr. Bennett will discuss a few strategies, with examples, that can help us "win" this race by improving our teaching success at almost any level, and especially for the teaching of math and science. We will have strands focusing on early childhood, coding, ecology and all things STEM! Preview a planetarium show.
Parking is free and lunch is included.
All educators, including homeschool and pre-service are welcome.

What we need:
Presenters - Do you have a best practice, activity, lesson or service for STEM teachers you would like to share? Apply to present a 45 minute session to about 25 teachers.
Vendors/Local Resources - Do you have a service or are a local resource for teachers, students and/or the community? Host a table to share your information or service with 200+ teachers.
Presiders - Assist presenters in workshops. Keep a count of attendees in workshop. Close workshop if room is full to prevent overcrowding.
General Volunteers - Assist with registration or with presenters. Contact cterrones@alamo.edu if interested.
Keynote speaker - Share your great experiences and knowledge with 100 teachers in the planetarium. Contact cterrones@alamo.edu for more information.

Description
Scobee Education Center houses the Challenger Learning Center, planetarium and observatory. We offer STEM programming to students of ALL ages. The Challenger Learning Center is a simulator that turns students into scientists, astronauts and engineers as they conduct missions in space. The planetarium offers a large catalog of shows for all ages and numerous STEM topics. The observatory holds a 10 ft refracting telescope to discover and study celestial objects.
