Success Academy is middle school after school program which is an extension of the Family Learning Institute's regular reading and math program offered to 2nd through 5th graders. After 5th grade, our students either graduate or age out. Success Academy is offered to these students to help guide them as they transition to middle school.

Goal: Through workshops, homework help, and guest speakers - students will learn the importance of:
- Peer interaction
- Positive communication
- Conflict resolution
- Leadership
- Team building
- Goal setting
- Time management
- Stress managment
- Study skills
- Career development and more!
When: October-April - Every Thursday from 5:30-7:30pm (1 hour of workshop, 1 hour of homework help)
Where: University of Michigan - Ginsberg Center 1024 Hill Street, Ann Arbor MI 48109
As a volunteer, you would have the opportunity to work in small groups or one-on-one with students while they work on their school homework. You would serve as a positive role model and mentor to our students as they navigate middle school and prepare for high school and college. We ask that you come every Thursday from 6:30-7:30pm.
This is a wonderful experience for our students, and they look forward to working with high school and college students!

Mission Statement
The Family Learning Institute seeks to close the achievement gap in Washtenaw County. We believe that all students, regardless of life circumstance, deserve the chance to forge the skills they need to build the lives they dream.
Description
The Family Learning Institute (FLI) is a non-profit, volunteer-based educational organization that helps young people improve their reading, writing, math, and thinking skills. FLI works exclusively with low-income, academically underperforming 2nd-5th graders in Washtenaw county. Students are paired with one adult volunteer tutor for the entire school year, developing an educational and mentorship relationship; our professional teaching staff (Elementary Reading and Math Specialists) provide all the training and materials necessary to target our students' specific areas for growth. Each student in our program attends a two-hour session, once a week, half of which is spent working one-on-one with their tutor and the other half of which is spent working on writing or math application skills in small groups.
