True Friends is a non-profit organization committed to providing amazing experiences for people with disabilities through camping, respite care, horse back riding therapy, travel and even an award-winning wheelchair accessible high ropes challenge course!

We rely on volunteers to ensure we're providing the best care and programming for our clients. Your company can help True Friends and engage your employees at the same by making Break Backpacks for our campers with autism or other special needs. After your make the kits, you're welcome to drop items off at any of our camps and take a tour, or we can also arrange to pick up the items.

What is it?

Break Backpacks are backpacks for True Friends staff to carry with them throughout the day. They are filled with fidgets and sensory items to help individuals meet their sensory needs or self sooth.

Break Backpacks can help kids & adults with special needs transition between activities or sooth them in stressful situations. Items in the backpacks include things such as:
  • Ear plugs (the disposable orange kind)
  • Sensory rings
  • Small dry erase boards, erasers and markers (to give prompts, play a game, draw
  • Crazy Aaron’s Thinking Puddy (an expensive brand but does not dry out... literally the best stuff ever)
  • Fidget spinners
  • Brain games
  • Visually stimulating things
  • Liquid motion bottles
  • Puffer balls
  • Squeeze balls
This a great way for staff to interact in a fresh atmosphere, build a stronger team and give back to the community!

*We ask that groups cover any expenses involved with their project.
