Help us bring Tacoma’s birthplace to life through interactive learning for elementary students and our community. Entertain children and families with old-time songs from the 1800s. Share the sounds of the past with children during school field trip visits and special events at the Museum.
Job Carr Cabin Museum hosts over 30 school groups each year. Performers may incorporate music, dance and storytelling to engage school children in learning about frontier life.
School field trip presentations are generally scheduled on weekday mornings. Special events are usually scheduled during afternoons, evenings and weekends. Performance times vary from 15 to 60 minutes. Multiple opportunities are available.
We welcome volunteers of all ages, interests and skill levels. Volunteers with experience in music, theater, education, history, and storytelling are strongly encouraged to apply. Stipends may be available. All volunteers must complete a volunteer application form and successfully pass a security background check.
