We will be placing hanging file folders into 1,000 small, light crates and labels applied to each crate. Depending on the number of volunteers, this opportunity should only take about two hours. The file folders were organized and put together by fire survivors and their friend in San Diego, shipped up to Sebastopol, and now need to be placed into these Out of the Ashes Fire Recovery Organizational System crates. Our team up there will then transport these crates and handed out for free to fire survivors in the Sonoma County fire recovery Local Assistance Centers. How's that?

Mission Statement
Survivors of the 2003 Cedar Fire have united to Pay It Forward. Now in 2017 we are creating the Out of the Ashes Boxes a fire recovery organizational system to help fire survivors in the Sonoma County region to get their lives back together again.
Description
In 2003, the Cedar Fire destroyed thousands of homes in San Diego. To assist families who lost their homes in the Sonoma area fires, a group of nearly 200 San Diegan volunteers (many of whom lost their homes to the 2003 fire) designed and assembled 1000 file system totes filled with a customized fire recovery organizational system to meet the needs of recovering fire victims in the Sonoma area. Each portable, plastic tote containe d pre-labeled hanging files to help organize the important forms, receipts, and documents required during the recovery process. We are eager to "pay it forward" by sharing our post-fire knowledge with those who are beginning the recovery process. Their mantra was, "Getting organized helps you feel in control of your life again." You can help by volunteering on Oct. 24th from 8:30 to 10:30 in the Sebastopol area where we are putting the final touches on these fire recovery organizational system boxes. Bring friends!
