What is Relay For Life? In May 1985, Dr. Gordon "Gordy" Klatt walked and ran for 24 hours around a track in Tacoma, Washington, raising money to help the American Cancer Society with the nation's biggest health concern: cancer. Relay For Life has since evolved into community events around the world where teams and participants gather together to walk for 24 hours, raising funds and awareness for cancer. Relay For Life remains the signature fundraising event for the American Cancer Society. Relay For Life of Scotts Valley is entering its 9th year and needs support from the community! Relay For Life of Scotts Valley 2018 will be taking place June 2 nd & 3rd at Sky Park in Scotts Valley. Our Event Leadership Team (ELT) is looking for folks to help us plan the event. The commitment can be as much or as little time as you can fit into your schedule. There are many leadership positions open including: - Social Media: managing and implementing Social Media strategies for Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter - Marketing: working with ACS staff to effectively market the event to the community - Entertainment: booking and scheduling bands, performances from community groups, etc. - Team Coach: helping participants and teams feel supported and recognized through resources provided by the American Cancer Society - Sponsorship & Fundraising: great for people comfortable in sales - engaging businesses in the community requesting sponsorship while working with ACS staff to conceptualize unique fundraising opportunities
Day of Volunteers are also needed! To sign up as a day of volunteer go to https://tinyurl.com/SVRelay2018. Additional time slots & duties will be added throughout the year.
