Bingo volunteering
Volunteering with Community Knights is all about creating lasting friendships and relationships within our community as this effort supports the mission of funding GIFT Grants for education programs.

Community Knights is a 501c(3) nonprofit that has provided over 1.5 million dollars in grant funding through our GIFT program to nonprofits and school systems throughout the peninsula. We are in need of volunteers for our weekly Bingo fundraisers which funds our GIFT Grant program. Volunteering will be at 12742 Nettles Drive Newport News, VA 23606. 39 volunteers are needed on Wednesdays from 5:00 pm - 10:30 pm. 39 volunteers are needed for Sunday Bingo from 12:00 noon to 5:30 pm. 20 Bingo Prep volunteers are needed on Fridays & Mondays from 10 am - 2 pm. We recommend first-time volunteers register as a Floor Worker or for Bingo Prep. We can then provide training for some of the more difficult positions at a later date. There are videos explaining these positions on the registration page. Volunteers must register at https://signup.com/go/ nvXwSWq This helps us to track service hours internally, and also order food from the food truck for our volunteers. A meal will be provided from the designated food truck on bingo nights to all volunteers. Community Knights will also provide upon request a letter for a school, CO, or other supervisor documenting hours volunteered. All volunteers must wear a mask over their noses at all times, except when eating a meal. We will be doing temperature checks upon arrival. We have hand sanitizer stations on the walls and tables. Tables are socially distanced. Volunteers must be 14 or over, and have no history of a felony charge. Those under 18 must fill a release by a parent or guardian allowing them to volunteer. Additional questions can be directed to Lorraine SantaLucia the Volunteer Recruiter at lorrainesantalucia@communityknights.org or call/text 757-337-1970

Mission Statement

Community Knights is a 501(c)(3) non-profit created to address deep budget cuts that hit our public schools and non-profits with the 2008 recession. Our work began with supporting public schools and the non-profit community on the Virginia Peninsula experiencing funding shortages. Through regular local fundraising we have united individuals and organizations to work collaboratively to invest in our community. We have evolved into a vibrant, interconnected community investing in underserved populations through a continuous loop of volunteerism, community driven fundraising, and empowering organizations we serve. Our mission is to identify the needs of small local non-profit and public school organizations as well as the populations they serve and finding innovative ways to help them meet these needs collaboratively.

Community Knights uses a bingo fundraiser to fund their GIFT Grant initiatives. To date we have awarded $1,275,000.00 in grants to 160 different nonprofits and public school groups on the Virginia Peninsula from funds that have been raised at our bingo fundraiser. We are also dedicated to identifying service gaps for underserved populations within our community and, through the development of a nonprofit incubator, we want to support and educate start up organizations to fill unmet needs within our community.
