VOLUNTEER WGBH BostonTalks Happy Hour: Space, 11/16

Save to Favorites

ORGANIZATION: WGBH

Hello Volunteers,

Oh my gourd, October was one busy month! Thanks to everyone who volunteered during the Taste of WGBH Food & Wine Festival, October 5-8. More than 2,000 guests got a taste of our wonderful WGBH events while sampling some delicious food, wine and craft beer. With your support, WGBH raised nearly $170,000 in ticket sales that will go directly back to support the Foundation and our mission to "educate, entertain and inspire."

Thanks to you, WGBH continues to engage with more Members and event guests, raise money for the station, provide the best studio tours, inform audiences about WGBH programs and keep the community invested in public media.

Although the end of the year is near, November is far from a slow time of year. Please review all the events listed below and email me at jaime_reese@wgbh.org if you can assist. Please make sure to include the following information in your email response:

- Your full name

- Event (including date)

- Preferred shift (if multiple shifts are offered)

- Top 3 preferred positions (in order of preference)

Thursday, November 16: BostonTalks Happy Hour: Space

Location: WGBH Studios

Description: Space. We’re all living in it. But how do we define it, and how does it affect us? At this month’s BostonTalks Happy Hour, our speakers are redefining the way we view the space we inhabit. Clara Sousa-Silva is a molecular astrophysicist and MIT researcher dedicated to searching for habitable planets in the solar system and making the science world a more inclusive space for young women. Guests will hear about Clara’s work looking for life in space and fostering a love for science in girls. Emily O’Neil is the executive director for the Fort Point Arts Community in Boston. When rent got too high, and they lost studio space, she and the Fort Point Arts Community had to get creative. Their solution was to build a community in online. Attendees will hear her story and what’s coming up in local public art.

Position/Shift: Drink Sales (6:30-9:30pm), Food Host (6-9:30pm), Greeter (6:45-8:30pm), Photographer (6:45-9:15pm), Registration using an iPad (6:30-8:30pm)

*Volunteers must be at least 21 years of age

WGBH greatly appreciates your time as a volunteer - not only in November but throughout the year. I wish you all a very Happy Thanksgiving.

With gratitude,
Jaime
Volunteer & Marketing Manager, WGBH
