Polar Beers is a beer tasting event for ages 21 and older held at the Detroit Zoo in conjunction with Wild Lights, a holiday display of over 5 million lights. Volunteers assist with pouring samples of beer. The event is held indoors and outdoors under enclosed but unheated tents. Volunteers must be at least 21 years of age and complete a waiver of liability form. Detailed information is sent in advance and a brief orientation will be held before your shift begins. Two volunteers are assigned per table and typically two to three types of beer are available at each table. Volunteers are not allowed to sample the beer. No experience is necessary.
The Detroit Zoological Society does not participate in court-ordered community service of any kind.

Description
The Detroit Zoological Society is a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization that operates the Detroit Zoo and Belle Isle Nature Zoo. Situated on 125 acres of naturalistic exhibits, the Detroit Zoo is located at the intersection of 10 Mile Road and Woodward Avenue, just off I-696, in Royal Oak, Michigan.
