YWCA Dayton is seeking an Events Intern/s to assist our staff in planning, executing, and promoting fundraising and special event activities. The intern will report directly to the Special Events Manager and also work closely with other YWCA Dayton staff - including the Director of Development, the Volunteer Coordinator, and the Director of Marketing and Communications - as well as other staff and volunteers.
DURATION:
Spring 2018 and/or Summer 2018 and/or Fall 2018
HOURS:
~5-10 hours per week between Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Schedule negotiable and flexible. Some evenings/weekends required for scheduled events.
COMPENSATION:
Internship position is not compensated. Intern may be eligible for college credits.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Contact donors/sponsors/vendors as needed to make reservations & confirm information
- Work with Special Events Manager and/or key volunteers to coordinate event logistics
- Physically receive, catalog and organize event supplies and donated items
- Draft event descriptions and work with the Director of Marketing and Communications to promote event through digital and print channels and assist with event mailings
- Assist with day-of event execution, including set up and tear down and guest services
SKILLS, EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- Proficiency in basic Internet and Microsoft Office applications
- Must be extremely organized and detail oriented
- Must have excellent time management skills
- Must have ability to work independently as well as in partnership with a team
- Must be able to define and work to deadlines
