MiraCosta College Community Education offers several day-long excursions per semester for the general public to enjoy trips to specific educational and enrichment locations throughout Southern California. We are looking for that special person who enjoys organizing people and serving as a travel guide to the day trips selected and planned by our department. These trips usually take place on a Saturday or Sunday, but are sometimes scheduled mid-week depending on the destination. The Host would check in the participants, make sure they are all comfortable on the luxury bus that we have scheduled, help remind the participants about drop off and pick up times and locations, and answer any questions along the way. We typically have 25 - 50 people that join an excursion, and the Host is allowed one additional FREE seat for a friend or spouse to accompany him/her.
The individual we seek must be VERY patient and calm with others, familiar with Southern California in general, enjoy people, be energetic with no physical limitations, and be capable of problem solving just in case unusual challenges present themselves. The places we visit can vary from watching a musical production at the Pantages Theater, to a museum visit, or a day trip to Griffith Observatory with wine tasting on the way home. The Host may also wish to participate as a volunteer in working with our staff to plan out some excursions for future semesters, and perhaps even some multiple day tours if desired.
