The Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) is a national nonprofit organization that is leading the fight to free individuals - and the families who love them - from the harm of muscular dystrophy, ALS and related muscle-debilitating diseases that take away physical strength, independence and life. We use our collective strength to help kids and adults live longer and grow stronger by finding research breakthroughs across diseases, caring for individuals from day one and empowering families with services and support in hometowns across America.
The Chicago MDA office is looking for volunteers to help us at our upcoming Young Adult Seminar on Saturday, October 28th at Lurie Children's Hospital in Chicago. This is a free educational event for MDA's young adult clients and their family members. There will be informational sessions covering the most important aspects of successfully transitioning from adolescence to adulthood including: college & career preparation, financial planning & ABLE accounts, home modifications, medical managment, and more!
We are looking for 6 volunteers to help us with registration for the event, greeting the guests, and directing the guests to the informational sessions. Lunch and validated parking will be provided for all volunteers. We have three different volunteer shifts: 8:15 - 10:30 am, 9:00-10:30 am and 9:00-2:30 pm. We need two volunteers per shift. Please contact Emily Hall at emhall@mdausa.org if you are interested in this opportunity.

Description
For Families, By Families
Families are at the heart of MDA's mission. A caring and concerned group of families started MDA in 1950, and we continue to relentlessly puruse our promise to free families from the life-threatening effects of muscular dystrophy and muscle-debilitating diseases today. Read more about MDA's journey and the progress we've helped make possible.
