ORGANIZATION: ASHLAND ARTISAN GALLERY AND ART CENTER INC

The Board of Directors will support the work of the Ashland Art Center and provide mission-based leadership and strategic governance. While day-to-day operations are led by the Executive Director, the Board-ED relationship is a partnership, and the appropriate involvement of the Board is both critical and expected.

Board Member responsibilities include . . .

  • Serving as a trusted advisor to the ED as s/he develops and implements Ashland Art Center's strategic plan
  • Reviewing outcomes and evaluating the effectiveness and impact of the Art Center, and measuring ts performance and effectiveness
  • Reviewing agenda and support materials prior to each Board meeting
  • Approving AAC budgets, reports, and material business decisions; being informed of and meeting all legal and fiduciary responsibilities
  • Contributing to an annual performance evaluation of the ED
  • Assisting the ED and Board Chair in identifying and recruiting other Board Members
  • Partnering with ED and other Board Members to ensure that board resolutions are carried out
  • Serving on committees or task forces and taking on special assignments
  • Representing AAC to stakeholders and acting as an ambassador for the organization
  • Ensuring AAC's commitment to a diverse board and staff that reflects the communities AAC serves

The Mission of the Ashland Arts Center is to serve as a vital resource for art experience and education, while offering economic and social support to the visual arts community.

Description

Ashland Art Center serves the local visual arts community through art education for all ages, access to low-cost studio and creative space, multiple channels for local artists to show and sell their work, and special events. We feature clay and print studios, painting and drawing, jewelry, glass art, woodworking, fiber and wearable art, photography, and so much more! We serve more than 200 local artists. In addition, we house a branch of Central Art Supply as well as the tasting room of Platt-Anderson Cellars, the only urban winery in Jackson County.
