The NYC Hurricane Assistance Service Center will serve as a "one-stop shop" for people to access NYC services, including help enrolling children in school, accessing public benefits, senior services and other direct assistance as needed. The Salvation Army will be present at this center conducting intakes and unmet needs assessments for possible long-term services as well as referrals to our programs that have existing feeding programs. As a volunteer, you will be conducting intakes and unmet needs assessments. You will be trained onsite. The ideal candidate is patient, able to collect information in a busy open-concept setting and be able to listen to someone's story. Team players, solid interviewing skills and a human service or emergency management background are all helpful qualities, but not necessary.

Spanish speaking a plus.
