Project Homeless Connect

Project Homeless Connect is a service and resource fair for people who are or at-risk of experiencing homelessness. The services provided aim to break down barriers to housing and self-sufficiency, including but not limited to shelter, health care, legal issues, job readiness, food, and behavioral health. Project Homeless Connect includes more than 150 service providers who serve more than 3,000 individuals per event.

Volunteer duties include:
Event check-in and exit, intake (requires advance training on Monday, November 14 from 4 pm to 5 pm at Cashman Center), data entry, courtesy patrol, navigation (concierge assistance for participants), baggage check, personal shoppers, meal service, traffic and parking attendants, trash and recycle patrol, restroom attendants, and shower attendants

Volunteer dates and shift options include:
Set-up day on Monday, November 13 for Shift 1 from 8 am to 1 pm, Shift 2 from 1 pm to 5 pm, and Shift 3 from 8 am to 5 pm, and
Event day on Tuesday, November 14 for Shift 1 from 6:30 am to 12 pm, Shift 2 from 11:30 am to 4 pm, Shift 3 from 4 pm to 8 pm, and Shift 5 from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm

You can also help by collecting donations. Wish list items for Project Homeless Connect include socks (cotton), t-shirts (adult sizes small to 3X), professional clothing and accessories, hats, coats/sweatshirts, packaged underwear, blankets, first aid kits (travel size), bus tickets/day use passes for RTC buses, and hygiene items (travel size preferable) such as shampoo/conditioner, brushes/combs, soap, hand sanitizer, toothbrushes/toothpaste, feminine hygiene products, sunscreen, and lotion.

The Nevada Homeless Alliance pursues collaborative strategies to end homelessness in Southern Nevada through advocacy, public awareness, education, and the coordination of services. This requires a multidimensional, collaborative approach among government agencies, community organizations, the private sector and homeless people themselves. The NHA works to create and strengthen these relationships to facilitate an effective and comprehensive systems response to homelessness.

Description

The Nevada Homeless Alliance leads the coordination of Connect Events, comprehensive resource fairs for homeless and low income individuals and families that provide immediate access to a full array of services in one place, including housing, medical/dental/vision care, mental/behavioral health, job readiness, legal aid, community resources, benefit support, pet care, and more.
