The Japanese Friendship Garden hosts a number of special events throughout the year and is always looking for more volunteers to help out! Events may include:
- Major festivals such as Cherry Blossom Festival, O-Bon Festival and December Nights
- Smaller cultural ceremonies like Seijin-Shiki or Shichi-Go-San, which are traditional coming-of-age celebrations
- Opening art receptions for new exhibits
...and more! These opportunities are a great way to knock out community service hours, meet new friends, and enjoy the events from a behind-the-scenes perspective. Please reply to this ad for more information about upcoming events.

The mission of the Japanese Friendship Garden Society of San Diego is to create a Japanese-style garden dedicated to the well-being of all people which provides educational programs that encourage understanding of the Japanese heritage among people of diverse ethnic backgrounds and cultures.
As a valued asset to Balboa Park, the Japanese Friendship Garden is also an educational resource to the community. It provides a variety of seminars, cultural classes and workshops as well as accredited horticultural instruction.,
