This volunteer role is a great opportunity to learn a lot about nonprofit funding for a small but growing organization with an important mission.
NeighborLink Indianapolis is a private nonprofit organization that provides free home repairs and related services to low-income seniors and individuals with disabilities within Marion county, Indiana. We have one mission-to allow seniors in need to stay in their own homes safely and with dignity. Much of the home repair is completed by volunteer groups (great for church, colleges, organizations, businesses, team building, etc.) with experiences tailored to fit projects.
This volunteer would work with the Board's Funding Subcommittee on planning and assist in the initial setup steps for actions within that funding plan. They would assist the Development Director in necessary data entry and follow up with donors. These responsibilities will mature over time as we grow.

Mission Statement
NeighborLink Indianapolis mission is to help older adults and individuals with disabilities who own their own homes age in place safely and with dignity. We do this by providing home repair at no cost to the homeowner.
Description
We focus on home repairs that enable the homeowner to age in place safely, stabilize the home for years to come, and provide an improved appearance for the neighborhood at large. Many of the repairs we provide would be able to be done by the homeowner if they had the means or physical ability. By using volunteers we are able to help the homeowner as well as provide that intimate experience of truly being the hands and able-body for someone else.
Most older adults want to age in the most affordable home-the one they own. Aging in place allows older adults some level of autonomy and dignity over their own health and decisions. It allows many to remain within communities they’ve been a part of for decades. Social determinants of health, particularly including the ability to keep their home safe and accommodating to their physical needs, are among some of the most challenging barriers to aging in place.
