At Christmas in the park 2017 we need as many volunteers as we can get! There are various opportunities to take advantage of at this event based on what you like and what your talents are. Everyone above the age of 15 is welcome to participate. There are also different times, shifts and positions to sign up for:
- (2pm-6pm) Volunteer Check in: Check-in volunteers as they arrive and direct them to their assignment location. Assist with the event as needed after check-in is complete.
- (3pm-9:pm) Breakers/Santa's Arrival Volunteers will be responsible for giving other volunteers breaks throughout the event. During Santa's Arrival, they will need to assist in making sure the path to Santa's sleigh is clear.
(3pm-9:pm) Craft volunteers will be responsible for explaining each craft and assisting children with assembly. Volunteers will also be responsible for keeping the craft area clean during and after the event. (3pm-9pm)
- (3pm-9pm) Hayride volunteers will be in charge of maintaining the line for the hayride and keeping the streets clear and safe for the horses.
- (3pm-9:pm) Movie Support volunteers will be responsible for keeping the movie area clean during and after the event. These volunteers will be responsible for notifying staff if there are any problems in this area
- (3pm-9:pm) Parking Volunteers will control the parking in Midland Animal Clinic Parking lot and Old Poway Park Parking lot before, during and after the event.
- (3pm-9:pm) Santa's Village: Volunteers will make sure that the line for Photos with Santa remains clean and in order during the event. They will also be responsible for cutting off the line when the event is done.
- (3pm-9:pm) Train Line volunteers will maintain order in the train line, making sure that the trash is picked up and making sure the line flows smoothly.
- (7pm-11pm) Volunteer Check out:Check-out volunteers as they leave. Assist with the event and clean-up as needed.
- (8pm-11pm) Clean Up Crew: Volunteers will assist staff in breaking down and cleaning up the event. Decorations will be taken down and organized after the event.

Mission Statement
Christmas in the Park is a Charles Dicken’s themed event that provides the Old-Fashioned Holiday of a time long ago. This traditional event provides a place for families from the community to bask in old-timey holiday cheer.
Description
The City of Poway invites you to join us on Saturday, December 10th from 3:30pm-8:30pm, for an old-fashioned holiday tradition. This free event will take you back in time with caroling, live music, horse-drawn hay rides, and so much more. Purchase tasty holiday treats, finish your Christmas shopping at the craft boutique, or board the Poway Midland Railroad for a night-time ride around the park. Children of all ages will enjoy the free crafts, model trains and of course a visit with Santa.
Join us for the annual lighting of the community Christmas tree at 5:15pm, followed by Santa’s arrival. The event is co-sponsored by the City of Poway, the Old Poway Park Action Committee, The Hamburger Factory, the Heritage Group, Neal Electric, Francis Ralph Potograpiya, and Walter Andersen Nursery. Admission is free, train and pony rides are available for a nominal fee.
