The mission of the March of Dimes is to improve the health of all babies by preventing premature birth, birth defects and infant mortality. Each year nearly 490,000 babies are born in California and the March of Dimes strives to help each and every one of them through our programs of research, education, community services and advocacy. Mission Statement

The mission of the March of Dimes is to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth and infant mortality.

Description

The March of Dimes works to end premature birth and other problems that threaten our babies. We help moms have full-term pregnancies and healthy babies. If something goes wrong, we offer information and comfort to families. We research the reasons why babies are born too soon or very sick and work on preventions.

In 2003, the March of Dimes launched the Prematurity Campaign to address the crisis and help families have full-term, healthy babies. We’re funding lifesaving research and speaking out for legislation that improves care for moms and babies. Worldwide, 15 million babies are born prematurely each year and premature birth is the #1 killer of babies world-wide, under the age of 5.
