Join us for an exciting day of habitat restoration on a tract of land that has been largely undisturbed since 1911. The Beech Haven tract includes 105 acres of land along the Middle Oconee River that holds both ecological and historic significance. The area includes forests, floodplains, and wetlands that are all important to the Middle Oconee riparian corridor. Since Beech Haven is not yet open to the public all of the volunteers for the event will get an exclusive first look at an area that has seen little change over the last 100 years! This event will include cultural and natural history tours and invasive species removal in conjunction with the ongoing restoration of the area
Please bring close-toed shoes, clothes you don't mind getting dirty, water, insect repellent, and any sun protection that you may need. We will provide all necessary tools and gloves.
Beech Haven Baptist Church has generously let us use their parking lot for volunteer parking and as our initial meeting site. There will be some buses using the parking lot for the duration of the football game so please be mindful and park in a way that does not block them in.
