RevealBeauty is a 501(c)(3) that began 12+ years ago with the aim of providing uplifting experiences for women who have experienced abuse; we want to renew the words 'Beauty' and 'Dignity' for our fellow neighbors. While we have put on successful Annual Makeover Events each year (this past February 140 volunteers provided 95 women from 6 NYC shelters with a makeover, blow-outs, a new outfit, shoes, accessories, professional photographs and a catered meal) and have served a Harlem shelter with monthly Workshops (makeup, skincare, stress management, zumba, basic finances and job-preparedness), we'd like to expand these offerings to all 5 NYC boroughs and every major NYC city! Expansion won't happen without full time staff, so we need to onboard a Fundraising Director to help us secure funding. While technically a volunteer position, we are strongly considering paying the person a percentage of what they raise. Empowering survivors of domestic violence and sex trafficking through inspirational experiences that reinforce their healing process.
Description
Reveal is a registered 501(c) 3 volunteer organization that restores the beauty and dignity of women that have faced domestic violence. Through monthly workshops and an annual Makeover Event, Reveal works with New York City shelters to provide services that will reinforce the confidence of their clients.
Reveal’s annual Makeover Event is an unforgettable makeover experience offered in a safe environment. The women receive full makeovers including hair, make up, massage therapy, and a new wardrobe from our dedicated volunteers. Sincere conversation and helpful tips teach and inform women on beauty practices and life skills that will take them well beyond the event. This includes information on health, nutrition, interview presentation and fitness instruction.
Reveal workshops are offered to augment the Makeover Event by maintaining the support offered at the annual event. The workshops range from financial seminars, to nutrition on a budget, to the importance of personal brand. Through these two program activities, 100+ women are served annually.
