We need volunteers to assist with administrative tasks in Friendship Place's development office. Projects include but are not limited to assisting with mailings and special events, preparing Board meeting materials, photocopying, writing thank you letters, and other administrative responsibilities based on your interests. This is an excellent opportunity to develop tangible skills and to learn how a grass-roots, non-profit organization works. We are particularly looking for individuals with flexible schedules who are available to help out on an as-needed basis. It is helpful if individuals are available between standard business hours (Monday- Friday between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm).

About Friendship Place
Location:
4713 Wisconsin Ave NW, Washington, DC 20016, US
Mission Statement
At our core, our mission is to help people facing or at risk of homelessness to secure stable housing and embark on a new chapter in their lives. Our ultimate vision is for DC and beyond to be a place where everybody can find a place they can call "home."
Description
Friendship Place is staffed by over 100 people and has a wide reach in the DC Metro area. The highly successful programs have been given numerous awards, and help make a lasting difference in the lives of over 4,500 people yearly through street outreach, free medical and psychiatric clinic, including drop-in care, case management, transitional housing, rapid rehousing, permanent supportive housing for veterans and their families as well as job placement and specialized programs. Our program results have been incredibly successful, and various government and nonprofit organizations all over the country are studying our models to replicate our achievements.
Nonetheless, Friendship Place-supported by 26 congregations and more than 300 volunteers a year-retains the feel of a small, caring, neighborhood organization. The most commonly repeated refrain we hear from the people who come to us for help is this: "At other agencies, I felt like a number. At Friendship Place, I’m treated like a human being."
