Gleaning Driver

ORGANIZATION: Inter-Faith Food Shuttle

The Inter-Faith Food Shuttle is partnering with the Society of St. Andrew (SOSA) again for their annual Yam Jam gleaning and bagging sweet potatoes. We are in need of volunteer drivers to pickup the sweet potatoes and bring them back to the Food Shuttle Warehouse in Raleigh. Drivers will need to be available from around 9 AM to around 1 PM. The volunteer would get a Food Shuttle box truck from the Raleigh warehouse, drive to the gleaning, pick up potatoes, drive back to warehouse. The volunteer driver would not be responsible for loading the truck because Food Shuttle and SOSA gleaners will be there to do most of the work. Drivers are needed for the following Saturdays:

- 10/21
- 10/28
- 11/4
- 11/10
- 12/9

Qualifications:
- Must posses valid driver's license.
- Must pass our driving road test.

What is Gleaning?
The idea is simple. We can FEED THE HUNGRY with what is left in the field.
By collecting excess fruits and vegetables from local farms and markets, the Food Shuttle Gleaning Program reduces food waste and provides nutritious food for our community members in need. Gleaned produce is distributed through Food Shuttle Mobile Markets, Grocery Bags for Seniors program, meal programs, and to our partner hunger relief agencies.

WE FEED. WE TEACH. WE GROW.
