Help Fight Hunger by recovering 2,000+ pounds of food in a day!

The Inter-Faith Food Shuttle receives food from over 350 donors such as grocery stores, catering companies, corporate cafeterias, restaurants, wholesale food brokers, vending companies, and The North Carolina State Farmers Market. Once collected, the food is donated to organizations in the areas that feed the needy--the soup kitchens, pantries, outreach missions, and shelters.

Job responsibilities

Food Drivers work in partnership with a Driver Assistant traveling to established routes across our service areas. Drivers and Driver’s Assistants will recover food from our partner/donor sites and deliver it to recipient agencies to reach people in need. We have an urgent need for two additional Drivers on Fridays.

Qualifications

- must have a valid driver's license.
- must be at least 21 years of age.
- must be physically capable of climbing in and out of trucks which measure up to 2 feet off the ground. - must be physically capable of lifting up to 35 pounds.
- must be flexible and able to deal with changing circumstances

Location

Inter-Faith Food Shuttle is located at 1001 Blair Dr. in Raleigh (just off of Centennial Parkway near the NC Farmer’s Market).Driving Routes are primarily in the Triangle area.You will be picking up food at variety of warehouses.

Time Commitment and Training

Food Shuttle Drivers must be able to commit to volunteering one day a week or bi-weekly for 5-6 hours.Training is usually provided the initial day of your route by our staff.

Shifts and routes vary, but a typical schedule is Monday through Friday, 7:45 am - 1:45 pm.

What to bring

Please wear long pants, T-shirt, and closed-toe shoes.Work gloves may be helpful if you would like to bring a pair. Must wear slip resistant footwear. We recommend bringing a water bottle to stay hydrated and a granola bar for a snack.
