Organization Overview:

OneOC is a nonprofit organization in Santa Ana whose mission is accelerating nonprofit success. With volunteer, training, consulting and business services, we help other Orange County nonprofits become as effective and efficient as they are passionate about their missions, enabling them to reach their full potential.

Through hands-on experience, interns will learn the role of accounting in business. They will be capable of expanding upon the theory and concepts taught in accounting and business courses, and gain exposure to basic cost accounting and the financial reporting process. Interns will obtain skills that will augment future course work. Accounting interns will be able to exhibit their knowledge of fundamental and technical concepts of accounting.

Activities & Assignments:

• Interns will be learning about data entry into the following areas of the accounting software: accounts payable, cash receipts/deposits, general ledger/journal entries, and accounts receivable.
• Will learn about financial reporting, comprised of:
• Statement of Activities
• Balance Sheet
• Dashboard Financial Reports
• Board of Director Financial Report
• Special Projects may be assigned (as needed)

Training:

Will be provided as one-on-one, hands on training with the accounting staff over tasks specified above. Interns will also receive coaching from their supervisor, as well as formal, structured training involving classes, workshops, webinars, reading materials, etc.

Requirements:

Must be pursuing a degree or career in Accounting. Applicants must be currently enrolled in an accredited academic program and be able to receive school credit for participation in OneOC’s Internship Program. Internships are unpaid.
