Program:

College Avenue Social & Wellness Center is one of two thriving JFS older adult centers. Hundreds of participants enjoy daily meals, exercise classes, art classes, games, cultural programs, and live entertainment. This is a home away from home for many older adults.

Goal of Position:

As a Health Fair Volunteer, you will provide support to the College Avenue Staff during the fair. Providing health information to the older adults of the community is incredibly valuable to insuring longer living. As a volunteer, you will help create a friendly atmosphere, provide assistance, and make sure the fair runs smoothly

Benefits:

• Be able to help older adults gain access to important information
• Spend time interacting with the wonderful staff and patronage of the College Avenue Center

Tasks/responsibilities:

• Be a parking lot guide during the health fair
• Act as a greeter
• Socialize in and attend to the waiting area
• Help to set up tables and chairs

Qualifications:

• Comfortable with crowds
• Comfortable answering questions
• Can stand for a long time
• Must be friendly and outgoing
• Take direction easily
• Like to work amongst senior population

Requirements:

1. Must be able to provide own transportation to the College Avenue Social and Wellness Center
2. Complete a volunteer application at www.jfssd.org/groupapp
3. Complete Volunteer Phone Interview with Volunteer Engagement
4. Be on time
5. Must be able to stand for extended time and walk down flights of stairs
6. Please be friendly/talkative/ willing to give directions and attend to frail persons
7. Can Lift 10-20 lbs.

Time Commitment:

1-2 volunteers on October 20, 2017 from 8:30am-11:30am
