Washington National Cathedral

Every year, Washington National Cathedral holds a variety of concerts, educational programs, and special worship services which are vital to the ministry of the Cathedral and its mission. Special Events Volunteers welcome, direct, and seat guests, distribute tickets at Will Call, check tickets (or passes) as guests enter the Cathedral, assist guests with special needs, and take up the collection when applicable.

Scheduling and Time Commitment: A schedule of upcoming events is sent to Special Event volunteers quarterly. The volunteers then send their availability via email. Thus the time commitment for special event volunteers is flexible.

Training: Volunteers are asked to review the "Special Events" training manual and participate in a 30-minute walk-through of the space.

Qualifications:
  • Special Events volunteers should have a strong interest in working with people of all ages from a variety of backgrounds.
  • Strong communication skills, flexibility and the ability to "think on one’s feet", and being a team player are necessary to fulfill special event responsibilities.
  • Strong customer service skills and a friendly demeanor are a plus.
