The West End Museum, which is run entirely by volunteers, is seeking the assistance of a professional/commercial quality photographer to shoot events, programs, and/or other content as assigned. Photos will be used in Museum newsletters, social media, press releases, etc.
Requirements:
- Own camera or a smartphone capable of capturing high-quality photos; commercial photography level equipment preferable, but not required
- Be available to perform event photography on occasional nights and weekends
- Have access to and knowledge of photo editing software
- Have knowledge of uploading photos at different resolutions/sizes to sites like Flickr/Smug Mug
- Be able to turn around at least a few selected photos within 1-to-3 days of an event
- Online portfolio of photography preferred; at minimum, have sample photographs to share
Commitment:
Most of the photography will be done at the Museum (North Station area). There may be rare requests for other locations. You need to be available once a month for marketing committee meetings, some of which are conducted at the Museum, some via conference call. You need to be able to commit to volunteering for a period of at least 3 months.

The Museum provides a space for past and present residents and the community; educates the public in history and urbanization; and preserves its material history and culture. About the West End Museum:
We are a Boston neighborhood museum seeking volunteers interested in the history and culture of the City of Boston, its immigrant era, and urban renewal. The Museum is a 501(c)3 charitable non-profit organization dedicated to the collection, preservation, and interpretation of the history and culture of the West End of Boston.
You can expect to find a casual workplace of friendly Volunteers and Staff who are welcoming and eager to engage with the public. A previous knowledge of the neighborhood is not required, but an appreciation of its historical significance is helpful.
The Museum is conveniently located close to the MBTA Science Park/West End Station and North Station. Bowdoin Station is about a 10-minute walk.
