LITA of Contra Costa involves community members of All Ages, educating and supporting Youth, Families and aspiring Artists for Success as Volunteer Visitors accomplishing our Mission to improve quality of life for seniors and disabled persons living in assisted living and skilled nursing facilities throughout Contra Costa and Alameda County

LITA's fourth annual holiday card making event is the ideal outing to bring your family and friends together, or do something on your own for others on Thanksgiving Day or Friday after Thanksgiving.

Event takes place in the quaint town of Port Costa at the Historic School now our Community Center. Enter our work area left side of building downstairs, past swing set and rose garden in the side door.Plenty of room to work, tables chairs and some crafting materials provided.

We will be making cheerful senior friendly holiday greeting cards, distributed by LITA caroling groups to o those elder and disabled folks in over 12 Contra Costa County skilled nursing facilities.

We have basic red. white or bright green paper and some other crafting supplies;Suggest you bring scissors, scotch tape or rubber cement, Old holiday wrapping paper or cards to cut out cute images

Please no glue guns or loose glitter (Makes clean up a nightmare)!!

Share the Spirit is once again gifting coffee, fruit, nuts, juices coco & cookies for all volunteers

Last year's production resulted in 620 beautiful, funny and touching cards made and hand delivered to each hospital resident by LITA of CC caroling groups during

"Love Is The Answer" LITA of Contra Costa (since 1980) involves community members of all ages, educating and supporting youth, students families and aspiring artsts to be Volunteers to fulfill our Mission to imporve qualiaty of life for senior & disabled persons living full time in nursing care as well as memory care and assisted living facilities in Contra Costa County.

Description

LITA of CC serves skilled nursing and assisted living facilities, primarily in Contra Costa County. LITA is non-sectarian. There is no charge for LITA volunteer services.

MUSIC AWAKENINGS: LITA has long supported the miracle of Music to enhance healing & joy. Volunteers program tablets and phones especially for an individual patient (who may have speech, sight or social disabilities) with access to of music and movies from their prime of life stimulate golden memories, reducing stress, insomnia , agitation depression and alleviating sundowning. Spontaneously singing along with beloved lyrics, patients have created new pathways torestore speech.

LITA of Contra Costa encourages Intergeneration Appreciation, with events and holiday or project visits for groups from preschool through High School and College. Family visits are also encouraged and supported within this Love Is The Answer volunteer program.

Arts Volunteers at all ages & levels of perfecting audio/visual, music, dance, acting, poetry and other performing & fine arts, share these gifts with seniors in continuing care. Our most popular LITA program, suspended during covid and still not back was Pet Visitors bringing gentle dogs, cats, turtles birds.
