Do you like working with kids? Do you enjoy LEGO building and creative engineering? Become a LEGO Club Assistant and interact with kids in preschool through 5th grade as they create, build, and imagine new worlds.
This position includes helping set up LEGO stations, talking with children about their creations, as well as helping to clean up at the end of the program. Previous experience working with children and building LEGO structures is very helpful.
Skills & Qualifications
- Ability to interact with children in a non-didactic, encouraging, and enthusiastic manner
- Able to commit to volunteering twice a month for the school year (through June 2018)
- Ability to set up and take down chairs and tables
- Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs of LEGO tubs
- Ability to get up and down on the floor to interact with children
- Minimum 16 years or older
- Experience with kids and LEGO building bricks preferred

Description
Multnomah County Library is the oldest public library west of the Mississippi River, with a history that reaches back to 1864. As Oregon's largest public library, Multnomah County Library serves nearly one-fifth of the state's population with a wide variety of programs and services.
The mission of the volunteer program is to engage community members in enhancing the services that Multnomah County Library is able to provide online, at library locations, and in the community. Volunteers are engaged throughout the organization including at all of our 19 libraries and our outreach programs.
