Our Surgical Waiting Room Volunteer is the primary liaison between waiting family/friends of surgical patients and the Surgery department staff. Customer service skills and confidentiality are the highest priorities.
We would like a person who has strong interpersonal and communication skills, who has a desire to assist families/friends who have a loved one undergoing surgery. This includes hospitality assistance, knowledge of where patients are in the process of surgery, and relaying information from the surgery staff to families. This is generally a high stress time for families/friends and we want a person who can effect a calming influence for families and a welcoming, care atmosphere for the folks in the waiting area.
