P.A.L.S. for Healing is a nonprofit mental health organization dedicated to providing education, art therapy, EMDR and other trauma-informed therapies to help people who have suffered trauma and/or loss and positively impact overall health. Individuals can experience trauma from direct AND indirect exposure to an event(s) that leaves them with feelings of helplessness, terror, and loss of safety. Some of these experiences can include divorce, having an incarcerated parent, being in the foster care system, rape, serving in the military, having a family member in the military, responding to crisis situations, domestic violence, bullying, childhood abuse and neglect, the death of a loved one and natural disasters. P.A.L.S. for Healing has three locations within Cuyahoga County and provides offsite group and individual services within Cuyahoga, Lake, Lorain, and Summit counties. You’re invited to come work with a group of dedicated and motivated board members and volunteers in a growing organization. You will learn about providing support to individuals and families who are affected by trauma and/or loss. The selected interns/volunteers will have the opportunity to work from home independently with guidance from the organization's board, executive director, and volunteer coordinator.

If selected, the candidate may choose to take this position as a volunteer. This is a NON-PAID position

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and ensure that organization documents are in compliance with Ohio HR practice
  • Assist with the development, writing and changing of organization documents
  • Read content and correct for errors in spelling, punctuation, and grammar
  • Approve final versions submitted by staff


  • Experience in the mental health field
  • Experience in non-profit organizational structure
  • Proficient in basic computer applications
  • Attention to detail

  • Capability to effectively communicate orally and in writing
  • Ability to work well with a diverse group of staff and volunteers
